Fun in the Sun

We have been making good use out of the glorious sunshine this week. Yesterday afternoon the kids spent sloshing around on the slip-n-slide, while I lounged in my comfy chair; sipping an iced latte. Then I got up off my rear and attempted to teach them how to do cartwheels. Needless to say, we didn't take any pictures of that. Graeme got pretty good at it, but Blaire Rose still has a ways to go. It's been a while since I've done cartwheels... Slip-n-slide

We went to Old Man Beach here in Suquamish today. Our friend Tammy met us there with her daughter McKenna. It happened to be nice and quiet there, so we had a pretty relaxing time watching the kids play in the sand.

Let's Go Fly a Kite...

Point No Point
Yesterday was lovely and beautiful with a 70% chance of rain in the forecast. We laughed at the thought of rain marring the sunshine and took the kids up to the beach at Point No Point in Hansville WA. We got there and the clouds began looking ominous. We only had coats for the girls, so Graeme, Duncan & I braved the cold. The wind was nice and strong though, so we got out and flew kites for 20-30 minutes. No problem keeping the kites in the air! It looks like Graeme's kite is a flock of birds...

These darkness of these pictures is a bit over-done because they are taken by my cell phone - {from the nearby parking lot in our nice warm car where Paige and I were taking refuge after being in the cold for 20 minutes}

West Coast Beach Club

We went for a walk on our local beach here in Suquamish - Nothing compared to the beaches on the East Coast, but at least it's close. We got to see the boats going by and the kids enjoyed picking up shells and tossing them into the water. Duncan worked at teaching Graeme to skip rocks across the water - which occupied their time for quite a bit.

It's so nice to live this close to the beach - we definitely enjoy it. And now that the kids are getting older and my OCD self is mellowing out some *gasp* - I may actually let them play in the sand without hyperventilating about the mess it's going to make in my car and subsequently in my house.
