Happy Birthday Graeme

It sometimes takes me by surprise that I have children, let alone a 7yr old. Sometimes it just feels surreal that I could be considered worthy of being a mother to these children.

Graeme was having a hard time falling asleep last night - probably just the excited anticipation of going to Chuck E Cheese this morning with some friends - so, I reminisced with him a bit about where were at 7 years ago at that time - telling him that I didn't expect him to come 10 days early, so it was a bit of a surprise when I started having contractions.

We talked about how he grew in my tummy and that he was ready to come and make an appearance. He giggled when I said that he was knocking on my belly saying "Let me out!" - but I think he enjoyed the one-on-one time chatting with me. Sometimes, in the rush and hustle of everyday life, I forget to slow down and enjoy the children that God has entrusted to me. I forget that it is going by so quickly and that I am here to nurture and raise them to love the Lord with all their heart. I get so caught up in my TO-DO lists and things I think NEED to be done and I don't really take stock of what really matters: time with my kids to let them know they're loved.

May the start of a new year remind me that taking a moment here and there is more important than the laundry or dishes.

Pizza with a side of humor... Graeme lost his loose tooth while eating pizza. He exclaimed "This is the best birthday present ever - I was really hoping I could lose that tooth today!"
