No Idea

When I first began scrap-booking I often would skip over pictures if I didn't have a fantastic lay-out design for them. This resulted in a lot of odds-n-ends pictures not making it into our albums and frustration for my OCD self if I couldn't create a fabulous layout. When I became a Creative Memories consultant in 2000, I decided I needed to focus more on the pictures and less on the layout - I started doing 'naked pages' - barely any embellishments, but lots of memories journaled. I found that I was able to get a lot more done in less time AND I was much happier with my pages in the long-run because there wasn't any pressure that they would be 'dated' by current styles/fads/etc.

Once again I am struggling with the concept of needing to have a GREAT IDEA in order to blog about it. If I don't have a picture, I'm tempted to skip over the day/week and not put anything down. It's almost as if I think only picturesque moments are the ones worthy of being noted here. What if I just wrote about what we did today and how we're having to adjust parenting styles as our kid get older? How boring is that? Turns out it's probably not all that boring... just takes a bit more calm and introspection as I have to actually process {gasp!} the negative patterns I use and focus more on inserting positive instruction towards my children.

I guess some of it boils down figuring out the purpose behind my blog. Is it so I can keep in touch with friends? Is it to journal the happy moments in life so we can be reminded of all our blessings? It's probably a combination of everything, which prompts me to actually blog about more stuff.... not just the exciting things in our lives.

I tend to be a perfectionist, so it shouldn't be too surprising that I put off things when I'm not sure how to proceed. What do you put off because you aren't sure how to handle it?

I couldn't resist adding a couple quick photos from our soccer camp.

Cleaning. The idea that to do it perfectly is going to take ALOT of effort, so it's overwhelming and then just doesn't get done. I'm improving with that over the years, but it's a constant struggle.
